A new Agricomseeds invention protects the seeds before planting and the grains of corn in the field through a genetic tool.

Agricomseeds has a provisional patent on its INSULATED CASING AND INDIVIDUAL SHIELD FOR EACH GRAIN OF CORN BY MEANS OF A GENETIC TOOL that will change everything as we know it with regards to protecting the seeds and grains that farmers harvest in the field. In Photograph 1, on the right, you see the normal corn, and on the left, the protected corn.

Using a genetic tool that acts on the pericarp, when the grains of corn mature on the plant they are protected with a consistent coat of a very resistant red porcelain pigment that prevents attacks from fungi, bacteria and insects. This protecting effect also extends to the damages caused by rain during the harvest. In Photograph 2 we see a photograph of the pericarp’s red protective layer under a microscope and a normal, colorless, grain without any protection.

One of the applications of this protector is like a natural coating on the seed for planting, protecting it in the soil before it germinates. This coating is placed along the female homozygote lines which, as it is 2 n of maternal origin, is expressed in the seeds. Photograph 3 shows the how the seeds look.
